After unboxing a Douglas mattress and pulling it out the plastic wrap, it will expand to its full height in seconds. The mattress will reach its intended comfort level within 24 hours.

We've designed our mattresses with your comfort and cooling in mind.

But if you tend to be a warm sleeper, here's what you can do to reduce the heat:

Use the right bedding. In general, the higher the thread-count of your sheets, the more heat they will retain (especially if your sheets are made of cotton). We suggest using natural fibres such as bamboo, linen, wool, or cotton with a lower thread-count paired with a light duvet in the summer months.
Remove additional mattress protectors. Many waterproof mattress protectors don't provide much air circulation. But if you prefer using one, we offer a breathable, water-resistant mattress protector that has been designed to promote more airflow.

Note: Because of how the mattress layers are designed, the mattress should be rotated only and should never be flipped.

We recommend rotating your mattress every 4–6 months, especially if there is a noticeable weight difference between sleepers.

To rotate the mattress, turn it 180 degrees so the head of the bed becomes the foot of the bed. Regular rotation allows the sleep surface to recover from ongoing pressure and body impressions, helping support long-term comfort and durability.
