Douglas is also made in Canada, which means we can avoid the carbon footprint associated with international shipping.

A solid base or foundation helps your Douglas mattress perform as intended. Flexible bases can affect firmness and may cause sagging. We recommend the following base types for the best results.

Box Foundation: Sturdy wooden foundations designed for memory foam or latex mattresses.

Platform Bed: Solid, flat, and untreated wood surfaces.

Adjustable Base: Non-medical adjustable frames, motorized or manual.

Slatted Base: Slats must be at least 2″ wide, spaced no more than 3″ apart, and include a centre support for larger sizes.

Incompatible bases:

Metal bed: foundations made with a wire grid or thin metal beams.
Hospital bed: medically provided, adjustable bases.

If your current base doesn't have enough support:

Place a sheet of untreated pegboard or plywood between the mattress and base to increase the surface area of the base.

Shipping is free for most Canadian households. A shipping fee may apply to some remote locations.

The top cover on Douglas mattresses are machine washable:

Unzip the top cover
Wash with cold or warm water on delicate setting
Wash the cover on it's own to prevent colour transfer
Hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat

The 365-night at-home sleep trial is included with every Douglas mattress purchase. From the day your mattress arrives, you have a full 365 nights to sleep on it and get familiar with how it feels in your home.

Adjusting to a new mattress takes time, and we want you to experience your mattress fully before making a decision. For this reason, we ask that customers sleep on their mattress for a minimum of 21 nights before starting a return.

If you decide to return your mattress, log in to My Order or contact customer care to begin the return process. We will request a few photos of the mattress to confirm its condition for our charity partners, then arrange pickup based on your availability. Once pickup is confirmed, your refund will be issued.

Shipping is free to most locations across Canada. A $250 shipping fee per order applies to addresses in the Canadian Territories and select remote areas.

After unboxing a Douglas mattress and pulling it out the plastic wrap, it will expand to its full height in seconds. The mattress will reach its intended comfort level within 24 hours.

We've designed our mattresses with your comfort and cooling in mind.

But if you tend to be a warm sleeper, here's what you can do to reduce the heat:

Use the right bedding. In general, the higher the thread-count of your sheets, the more heat they will retain (especially if your sheets are made of cotton). We suggest using natural fibres such as bamboo, linen, wool, or cotton with a lower thread-count paired with a light duvet in the summer months.
Remove additional mattress protectors. Many waterproof mattress protectors don't provide much air circulation. But if you prefer using one, we offer a breathable, water-resistant mattress protector that has been designed to promote more airflow.

Note: Because of how the mattress layers are designed, the mattress should be rotated only and should never be flipped.

We recommend rotating your mattress every 4–6 months, especially if there is a noticeable weight difference between sleepers.

To rotate the mattress, turn it 180 degrees so the head of the bed becomes the foot of the bed. Regular rotation allows the sleep surface to recover from ongoing pressure and body impressions, helping support long-term comfort and durability.
